Kim Gordon

Kim Gordon started her artistic career as an assistant to Mili Arango in San Juan, Puerto Rico (the name Mili la Concha is derived from Ms. Arango). Moving to Los Angeles Kim worked with some of the biggest designers in the city such as Mary Macdonald, Tom Beeton, Hagy Belzberg, Tichenor and Thorp, Kerry Joyce, and many more while doing her signature cement floor glazes. In 1997 Kim purchased the contents of a seashell store in Ohio off a fledgling internet garage sale site known as Ebay.  Contacting her favorite designer with the news of her abundant shell collection, she was first commissioned by Kerry Joyce for a table, which helped finance the shipping of those shells. Using her knowledge and experience of listening to clients she has an uncommon ability to give them what they want. Effervescent and hilarious, Kim’s enthusiasm inspires. Her work is distinctly natural and inviting. Her work has been seen in Elle Décor, Metropolitan home, House Beautiful, LA Confidential, LA Times and German House and Garden. She has also co designed Elle Décor’s Dining By Design, and a vignet for The Verdura exhibit at Sotheby’s. Working with designers all over the city she continues to create the most outstandingly original works of art that drops jaws and shocks in its time consuming attention to detail. Her personalized shrines can be seen HERE.
